The recommendation is a planning aid, not a diagnosis. Here is what the model considers and where its limits are.

Decision factors

Repair cost relative to replacement receives the greatest weight. Expected life used, overall condition, urgency, warranty status, efficiency concerns, and sentimental or matching-set value then move the result. Borderline cases deliberately recommend another quote rather than pretending the answer is certain.

Planning ranges

Cost and lifespan figures are broad planning ranges assembled from commonly published service, manufacturer, retailer, and government information. Actual totals vary by model, location, labor market, access, permits, installation work, and the exact failed component. Always replace the defaults with your own written quote.

Efficiency and safety

Efficiency guidance is informed by resources from U.S. Department of Energy Energy Saver and ENERGY STAR. Product recalls and urgent safety notices should be checked with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the manufacturer.

Updates and corrections
